Best-value sweet white
Writing
in his popular guide, Don't Buy Wine Without Me 2007,
Stuart Gregor has selected the Lillypilly 2002 Noble
Sauvignon Blanc as his best-value sweet white for the
year. "This is one of the most delicious sweet wines
I've tasted in years. And I like the fact that it's made
from sauvignon blanc, it just seems to give the wine
that extra little tang that cranks up the yum factor
another notch. Always have a bottle of this in
the fridge.

"Stands out like a Mozart in a program full of
Mendelsshons"
A few months ago we had the privilege to host leading
freelance writer Rob Ingram for a visit to Leeton. We
enjoyed his company and he obviously enjoyed our wines.
Writing in the September 2006 issue of Australian Country
Style, he had the following to say about the Lillypilly
2002 Noble Sauvignon Blanc:
"Not just a gold medal wine, but a 24-carat gold wine.
Colour and flavour both show remarkable intensity and the
soaring acidity comes in like a cello in a Mozart quartet.
Flavour-wise, it's at the cumquat end of the crystallised
fruits spectrum with honey and toffee notes. The acid thrill
keeps things lively throughout its long finish. Stands out
like a Mozart in a program full of Mendellsohns."

PENGUIN GUIDE:
Lillypilly Estate 2002 Noble Sauvignon Blanc
This won a blue-gold medal and made the Top 100 at the 2004
Sydney International Wine Competition. We reckon it’s pretty
special, too. That’s unusual because sauvignon blanc isn’t
often used for stickies in Australia.
CURRENT RELEASE 2002: This gorgeous deep golden wine has a
fine, fresh flowery aroma with apricot and vanilla nuances
from botrytis influence. The palate is a masterpiece. It’s
very fine, yet intense, and penetrating acidity keeps it
light on its feet. There are honey, cumquat, caramel and
mixed-peel flavours, with a hint of marmalade. It has a
long, long flnish, and maintains its great balance and
harmony all the way. Yum! Delicious with crème brûlée.

FOUR STARS: Lillypilly
Estate 2002 Noble Sauvignon Blanc
From Riverina botrytis expert Robert fiumara, this lush wine
has attractive aromas of stone fruit, candied apricots and
spice and tobacco-like botrytis scents. The palate is sweet
and silky, long and fine, and counterbalanced nicely by
zesty acidity.

WINE OF THE
WEEK: Lillypilly Estate 2002 Noble Sauvignon
Blanc.
The Riverina
region of NSW has gone a long way towards making
sweet botrytis white its signature wine. Quality is
consistently very high and some winemakers, such as
Robert Fiumara of Liullypilly, make sweeties to
rival the best the world can offer. This botrytised
sauvignon blanc from Lillypilly is a highlight in an
excellent range. It's super-complex with loads of
luscious botrytis influence, yet it's also
incredibly fine and elegant. Lush, honeyed stone
fruit, marmalade and subtle spice mark the lovely
palate. There are also hints of musky flowers, spice
and earth. It finishes long and fragrant, soft and
clean. Delicious. RATINGS: ***** (A superb example,
a near-perfect wine of great character, worthy of
the big occasion and the best company) and $$$ (A
wine with a price tag that makes it a steal).Ralph
