Lillypilly 2002 Noble Blend
[wine list] |
 |
Region : Leeton Australia
Alcohol : 12.5%, 375ml
Variety : 80% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Semillon,
5% Muscat of Alexandria, 5% Riesling.
Available in :
Australia US
Ontario Canada
UK
Notes :
Golden yellow with some green tinge. Floral, spicy and
tropical fruit aromas. Intense and luscious palate with a
lively lift.
One of the coolest years in the history of our winery. Great
varietal flavour and wonderful balance. The season was
relatively dry but at the end of the season we had just
enough moisture to encourage the onset of botrytis.

deep gold and rich and complex on the palate with
some luscious sweetness and some nice acidity on the
finish. Try it with baklava. Winsor Dobbin, Rex

Lillypilly
scores Winestate Sweet White of the Year
Winestate magazine has named Lillypilly 2002
Noble Blend as its 2006 Sweet White of the Year.
The judging panel's comments included: "An
outstanding sweet wine, deep golden in colour.
Very complex: floral, honeyed aromas mingle with
butterscotch, spices, apricot, cumquat and mixed
citrus peels. There's a lot of botrytis evident,
and it's rich and quite viscous in the mouth,
sweet, ample, almost luscious, with soft
acidity.

other winery in Australia that rivals Lillypilly at
Leeton, in the Riverina, when it comes to being able
to taste current-release dessert wines. Winsor

100 TOP NEW
RELEASES: Lillypilly Estate 2002 Noble Blend
A luxurious blend of
sauvignon blanc, semillon, riesling and muscat, with
floral, riesling like aromas. Lots of rich botrytis
characters; an opulent "sticky" with honey,
butterscotch, cumquat and apricot flavours, and soft
acidity. Delicious. RATING: 95 points; 5 stars —

PENGUIN GUIDE:
Lillypilly Estate 2002 Noble Blend
‘The 2002 vintage was one of the coolest on record
in the Riverina and produced fruit with exceptional
varietal intensity and balance,’ says Robert
Fiumara. He was worried the season was so cool and
dry, the botrytis might not develop. ‘But late in
the season the morning mists moved in and provided
the ideal environment for botrytis to work its usual
magic, concentrating sugar, acid and flavour.’
CURRENT RELEASE 2002: An outstanding sweet wine,
deep golden in colour and smelling very complex:
floral, honeyed aromas mingle with butterscotch,
spices, apricot, cumquat and mixed citrus peels.
There’s a lot of botrytis evident, and it’s rich and
quite viscous in the mouth — sweet, ample, almost
luscious, with soft acidity. It would suit mango and
strawberry millefeuille.

FULL BOTTLE:
Lillypilly Estate 2002 Noble Blend
Lillypilly Estate
makes a quartet of excellent stickies. This one
heads the range ... It's not as thick and unctuous
as some but that's a good thing — the flavours are
clean and fresh, and with citrus- or apple-flavoured
desserts, it's hard to fault.

BOTTLER: Lillypilly
Estate 2002 Noble Blend
It's not cheap, but
this flagship of the Lillypilly botrytis sweet white
range is packed with luscious delights ... It is
amber in the glass and has scents of gooseberries
and toffee. Lush apricot and preserved cumquat
flavours dominate the front of the palate and
elements of cashew nuts, spice and cinnamon chime in
on the middle palate. The finish features persistent
sweet fruit characters.
