QUAFFING: Lillypilly Estate 2005 Chardonnay.
Though consistently enjoying
widespread acclaim for his sweet whites, winemaker
Robert Fiumara is also capable of producing
impressive dry table wines, as demonstrated by the
'05 Chardonnay. Plenty of ripe fruit here, including
strong hints of citrus, peach and melon; creamy
texture, good length and satisfying effect. A fine
example of warmer-climate chardonnay at a fair and
realistic price.

TOP DROPS: Lillypilly 2005 Chardonnay
It's well removed from the big,
peachy style usually seen from the district ... It
certainly has a touch of peach-like varietal
flavour. But instead of the usual fatness, there's
tangy citrus-like freshness and a pleasantly tart
bite in the finish.

THE GOOD LIFE:
The arrival of a new Lillypilly
vintage is always a welcome event, and the 2005
release of a Chardonnay, Tramillon and Red Velvet
has not disappointed.

A
VERY GOOD WINE: Lillypilly 2005 Chardonnay
... No
surprises here when I tell you this is a
classic warm climate Chardonnay varietal.
Lovely mid yellow in colour, its aromas are
varietal peach and melon, delivered with a
full lusciously rich character with fresh
lively acidity supporting the fruit. Lightly
oaked with a long smooth creamy finish on
the palate. Not overwhelmingly big but
generous nonetheless. Well made and should
develop over the next 3-4 years.
